About Us
Thanks for visiting our page! This is a section about who we are: The Halter family! My name is Kate, and I’m the official breeder of this operation. But I certainly couldn’t do it without my husband, Cody, or our 2 sons, Jonah and Elias. It truly is a family-run business. We ALL love dogs and we have made many family memories by raising and breeding Frenchies and Frenchtons. They have brought our family closer together and have helped teach our kids about real the real costs and responsibilities of caring for another living creature.
We are a small, family run breeding operation located in West Branch, Iowa. We have 6.5 acres of land that we use to raise chickens and guineas, garden, homestead, and breed and raise French Bulldogs and Frenchtons. We also own and operate the Fish Barn, which we run out of our barn. It's a small, local fish store where aquarium enthusiasts come to purchase freshwater aquarium fish and supplies.
In addition to the frenchies, we have 2 leopard geckos, a 7 year old Irish Wolfhound named Eazy, and a 9 year old Chihuahua named Romeo. We LOVE animals and are extremely fortunate to live our dream of raising and caring for them all.
We started breeding Frenchtons in 2019 after getting our first pair the year before. Beans is our first Frenchton male and we fell in love. Hard. He was just the perfect combination of playfulness and sweetness, with striking features, overwhelming cuteness, and a Goldilocks size of not-too-small and not-too-big.
We quickly added our blue female Frenchton, Azure, and the rest is history! Well...more like, present-ry. We are relatively new to the breeding game, but we have added 2 purebred French Bulldogs to our family and we are about to have our first litter of purebred French Bulldogs!
Our goal is to breed genetically healthy, high quality, and well-socialized Frenchton and Frenchie puppies and match them with the right owner or family. We have lots of hands that love to snuggle and handle the pups, which lets them get used to being handled by multiple people. We have a loud, rambunctious household with lots of kids and dogs. While this might not seem appealing to you as a lifestyle, it's good for the puppies. The more exposure they have to loud noises and distractions, the more likely they will not suffer from anxiety or stress related to loud noises such as thunderstorms. The extra socialization from kids, adults, other adult dogs helps them be great companions.
All of our breeding dogs are genetically tested for a lengthy list of inheritable disorders, and all are up to date on vet exams and vaccinations. We have done additional testing on Mabel, Azure, and Huckleberry. Those dogs have had OFA certification testing for eyes, hearts, hips, elbows, and knees.
We hope you find a puppy that fits with your needs and we are here for any questions you might have. Check out our Dogs page to learn more about our adult dogs, and our Puppies page to learn more about current and future litters.
